AND EGG DECORATING COMPETITION

Egg Decorating Competitions: The children are invited to decorate a hard-boiled egg and bring it in to school on the morning of Tuesday 27^th March (not before please). All of the eggs will be on display at the Easter coffee afternoon. Do make sure you label the entry with your child’s name and year group. If you prefer, children can decorate the attached egg outline instead (or as well). Please also return these entries to the school on the morning of Tuesday 27th March for display and judging. Judging is based on an egg being a child’s own work. This year there will be a prize for the best family entry should you wish to enter a ‘family egg’ (parental assistance)

Donations: As usual, we are asking for as many cake donations as possible to serve with the refreshments. Also, Easter Eggs for the raffle would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you, as always, for your support. We hope to see you at the coffee afternoon and the FOSS Committee wishes you a Happy Easter.

This week we   have the  Travelling Book Company.

This will be from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm from Monday 5th- 8th March

This is a chance to encourage children to read more.It is Proven that parents who  display positive attitude towards reading are more likely to pick up a book.

Note: You can pay using debit or credit cards also parents can pay with cheques which are payable to the school.

Our school that choose The Travelling Book Company will earn commission each time they have a Book Fair.

After Foss’s meeting held of 30th January we have decided to give the Foss website a bit of a update. So keep eyes open for changes.

One of the changes made behind the  scenes are the Kstas, This is a data monitor, it looks at the amount of  use within the Foss website. This has been running behind the scenes to work since October. This is to find out which bits you find important and which bits are not used. The data shows an amazing 1,216 people looked at the site in January and 84 in the 2 days of February.

We say goodbye to another year with foss and think about  all the amazing work we do to support Shincliffe School.Everyone has to learn to write 2012 for the 1st time and school starts in January.Foss would like to thank everyone for their hard work and everyone deserves a pat on the back and a good christmas rest.

Thursday 10th November in school

Everyone in the community is welcome to come along and shop and maybe participate in some mulled wine!  Entry will be free.   The evening will begin at 1830.

We expect to have about 15 stalls selling a variety of items.  Our aim is to have as many local businesses as possible offering a good range of products to our shoppers.   We ask stall holders to donate 10% of their profits on the evening to FOSS.

25th November

The annual FOSS Fun Run is for everyone, children and parents / grandparents alike. It is held at the School (weather permitting) and you get a chance to compete in a number of FUN runs on the school field. Fancy dress is optional but it is does add an extra element of fun to see Buzz Lightyear being challenged by Snow White and Spiderman catching up on the inside! (and that’s just the adults!) We finish the run with a mixed relay. Entry is £2.00 per runner.
The balloon race will start just after the FUN RUN. There is a prize for the returner of the first balloon and the one that has gone the farthest as an incentive for the balloons to be returned. There is also a prize for the person whose balloon it is that is returned first and whose balloon has gone the farthest. (by Monday 3rd October) All of the balloons which find their way back to the school will be announced. Entry is £2.00 per balloon

Tuesday 20th September 2011 at 7pm in the School Hall. This year we have a number of slots to fill – in fact all of the Executive positions and we have some proposed new roles to try to improve the way FOSS works and to encourage more involvement from our membership.
