FOSS: Friends of Shincliffe School

The aim of FOSS is to raise funds to help the school pay for items that they might not be able to afford otherwise and to do this by organising fun activities for the children and their families.

This year FOSS has given £700 to help reduce the cost of school trips and £300 for extra playground equipment including a "Tyre Play Park". FOSS also has paid for pin badges for each pupil to commemorate the school's 40th birthday.

In previous years FOSS have paid for £600 worth of new musical instruments to support the whole school’s music curriculum. We have also helped the school update its video resources to DVD and have raised money towards a suite of software called Espress. Foss has funded the updating of the school PCs, has bought a large projector for the school hall, and contributed to the pantomime and Year 6 leavers party. FOSS also provides sports day refreshments and Christmas gifts for the children.

Mrs Lowes attends the FOSS meetings so that the needs of the school and FOSS activities can be coordinated.

The committee is made up solely of volunteers and new committee members are always welcome. Any ideas for fundraising are always gratefully received.
